Solar Water Heaters
Solar water heaters are an economical and energy-efficient way to provide hot water for all of your household needs. It is not a new idea, as various forms have been used for at least a century now. However, today’s versions are much more compact and can be easily mounted to a rooftop.
There are two basic types of solar water heaters; passive and forced circulation. Passive systems operate on the principle of convection. As the water is heated inside the solar collector, it forces the water to travel through the pipes and into the storage tank. These systems are most often used in areas with a relatively warm climate.
Forced circulation solar water heaters do not have to rely on natural convection in order to operate. These systems use a pump which forces water through the solar collector and into the water tank. They are by far the most commonly used type of solar heater in the country.
