Solar Batteries
If you are considering installing an “off the grid” solar power system for your home or business, you will undoubtedly require at least a few solar batteries. These batteries are where excess power from your solar panels is stored for later use. They are an essential part of most solar power systems.
Most solar batteries are considered “deep cycle” batteries. They are designed to be able to withstand deep and prolonged discharges without any adverse effects. They are the most commonly used variety for most renewable energy systems.
There are two basic types of deep cycle solar batteries; flooded lead acid (FLA) and sealed (AGM or gel cell). FLA batteries generally last longer; however, they do require maintenance in order do so. Sealed batteries are often heavier than FLA batteries, which makes cost more to ship.
